CI Winter Jam

Jams, Labs, Coziness

3rd to 6th December 2026

Welcome to the CI Winter Jam

Jams & Labs, Talks & Silcence, Community & Nature, Sauna

3rd to 6th December 2026

We invite you to join our community for a winter gathering around our dear practice Contact Improvisation.

A space to dance, practice, research, discuss and bring ideas into movement, or movement into ideas. Daily Jams, CI Talks and CI Labs will be the thread running through our days.

Community living and care will hold our practice. Fire will warm and accompany our presence, while the surrounding nature will become part of our dance.

A time to come together, deepen our practice and celebrate the end of the year through movement, listening and community.

A moment to reflect, to share, and to set intentions for what is to come.

If we will be more than 20 people, we will rent a SAUNA for Friday and Saturday.
So please register early to make our planning easier.

Looking forward to dancing with you
Irene Pons and Jo Bruhn

Space Holders

Besides Irene and Jo, who will be holding some jams (some information above), we are happy to have these dancers in our team.

Marion Guiraud
 Contact Improvisation, Contemporary Dance, Biomecanics

For the past ten years, Marion has trained and researched movement through contemporary dance, traditional African dance, yoga, capoeira, qi gong, and Contact Improvisation. She facilitates regular classes and workshops, using biomechanics, somatics, and Contact Improvisation to explore, expand, and understand the body’s mobility—on its own, in space, and in connection with others.

Chris Gaber
Contact Improvisation, Questions and Answers

Dancing CI for over 10 years inspired by the work of Jörg Hassmann, Daniel Werner and Heike Pourian, as well as by Bruno Caverna’s Play-Fight approach Chris now is one of SerVivo’s in-house teachers with a special interest in the social and political aspect of CI.

Contact Improvisation

is a form of improvised dancing that has been developing internationally since 1972. It involves the exploration of one’s body in relationship to others by using the fundamentals of sharing weight, touch, and movement awareness. It has evolved into a broad global community of social dancing around “jams” characterized by their welcoming attitude towards newcomers to dance, as well as long term practitioners.

CI Labs

The concept of a Contact Improvisation Laboratory is to create an open space where people can come together and explore aspects of Contact Improvisation. It is a container where we share ideas, bring questions and topics that we can discuss or dance. We try out new things, experiment, or sometimes we just dance. Participants bring their interests to the LAB and build the space through them.
During our LABS, we will have space holders, but no teachers or facilitators. There will be a proposed frame, with openness for co-creating through our interests.

CI Talks

We would like to create a space for reflection and discussion around Contact Improvisation. Similar to the CI LABS, everyone is welcome to bring questions, topics or interests to share and explore together, but without dancing.

There are many ways to do a CI talk, here two examples:

  • During the event, a paper will be available for anyone to write down a topic or question they would like to explore. When the CI Talk begins, we will look at the proposals together and decide which topics we would like to discuss.
  • There will be suggested topics, a time and a frame for each talk, while leaving space for the conversation to unfold through the interests and contributions of the group.
