By learning the basic technical tools you will find an easy and smooth way to navigate through jams and find your very own joyful way on the dance floor.\nWelcome to your favourite playground!\nContribution for the class: €10-15\n \nOur regular Arrábida Contact Improvisation Jam starts right after the class:\n-> Every Thursday 19:30- 21:00 h\n-> Contribution: €10-15\nWe start the jam with a guided warm up / mini workshop leading into the open jam.\n \nOur weekly Contact Improvisation class is run by our best in-house teachers:\nCHRIS:\nPassionate about moving in different ways Chris came across Contact Improvisation in 2015, finding himself flabbergasted by this both vitalizing and subtle fusion of movement, dance, improvisation and somatic exploration. Lately he has found special interest in CI as a social and political practice beyond its performative, aesthetical, physical and somatic significance.  \nHe has been an active member of the CI community in Dresden, Germany, as teacher,  co-organizer and spaceholder, before investing his energy in SerVivo where he teaches and finds bliss and fulfillment as baker and gardener of the community.\nIRENE:\nIrene uses Contact Improvisation as her main practice to touch the present and embrace the unknown. With a background in Catalan folk dances, she later embraced Contact Improvisation, looking for more creativity and freedom. She has been deeply inspired by Towards, An Open Institute of Embodied Arts and Transformative Learning in Thailand, where she spent three years. Irene is more drawn to the spirit of the practice than to its form and explores how to open the space for dance to unfold, creating a state of readiness that can meet the constant change and transformation of life, and developing an awareness to expand beyond the walls.\nJO:\nSince 2001 Jo Bruhn dedicated his life to performing arts in various facets. In 2007, delicate encounters with Contact Improvisation began. Over time he focused often on the technical and compositional aspects of this rich dance form, attending advanced training, festivals and workshops, as well as a Contemporary Dance education at Tanzfabrik Berlin.\nThe intensive work with Nancy Stark Smith amongst many others ultimately gave him the foundation to teach, explore and to integrate CI into his dance performances. For almost 10 years he teaches all over Europe following his passion to bring CI to people.\n

With over a decade of experience in community arts, in her creative work, she draws inspiration from burlesque, clowning, butoh, ballroom culture, theatre improvisation, and the work of Bill Plotkin.\nHer methodology, Burlesco Wacko, has been presented at gatherings and festivals in Germany, Cyprus, and Portugal. It invites participants to explore seductive self-expression through playful dance, theatre, and performance.\nIn a daring space where weirdness and failure are celebrated, you are invited to discover your “seductive wacko”. By exploring the performative nature of sexuality, we will delve into our (un)conscious desires and fears, unlocking new possibilities for artistic inspiration. By shedding the skin of learned habits, we can witness each other in an utterly silly, yet deeply meaningful, creative process.\nRiccardo Russomanno (he/him) With over 11 years in the creative industry, Riccardo combines art direction and visual arts with the playful spontaneity of clowning. His work focuses on reconnecting people with their innate creativity, inviting them to embrace the joy of artistic expression. From street performances to animated collages, he explores the beauty of imperfection and the magic of collective creation.\nHave you ever wanted to connect more deeply with yourself, transforming flaws and vulnerabilities into powerful resources? The clown offers a unique perspective—a non-conventional master who shows us how to live life as a comedy, filled with authenticity and joy.\nIn his workshop, participants will explore through the clown’s methodology, how to access a state of creative presence. By resourcing from the emotional body the participants will learn the magic power of failures as tools for growth. The clown’s honesty in expressing feelings transforms difficulties into opportunities, turning life into a joyful performance.\nDani Kassif (she/her) is a facilitator of Contact Improvisation workshops and retreats, with a rich background in contemporary dance and choreography. Her work explores improvisation, the power of pleasure, and relational healing.
